In July 2008, Friends of Oliphant Coastal Environments presented the Town of South Bruce Peninsula Council with a number of suggestions for reducing vehicle impact on Oliphant beaches. In addition, strategies to enhance the safety and comfort of a variety of user groups within the context of controlled access, were provided.

Friends of Oliphant Coastal Environments is delighted to have been awarded a $2000 grant from Freshwater Futures in May 2008. The grant is to support FOOCE’s work to engage community in a process of education, awareness and collaborative problem solving to protect rare and sensitive fen, alvar and beach ecosystems in the Oliphant community and adjacent Fishing Islands.
